Letterpress is a very old printing technique that has seen an incredible resurgence in recent years. The concept is simple: apply ink to a raised surface and press that surface against a piece of paper. The details are more complex. The raised surface can be anything from the traditional wood or metal type where each letter is picked out by hand to plastic photo-etched art plates generated from computer files. The impression of the image into paper can leave a tangible indent that makes letterpress special. This old-meets-new process, with its unique capabilities and limitations, results in a beautiful and special finished product that has both the mark of the hand-made and the consistency of fine printing.
